Explore Christianity
Exploring Christianity

Many people have heard some things about Christianity, but they have not explored the evidence seriously themselves. We invite anyone who is interested to join us for four Sundays to ‘Explore Christianity’ for themselves. These groups run twice a year after the Sunday services. You are given the opportunity to ask any question you have about Christianity, and hopefully find sensible answers. We will read through the gospel of Mark together so you can see the foundational evidence for Jesus yourself. .

Parents and babies/toddlers

Jesus loves the little children and so do we. Babies are welcome in our services, even when they cry! Our comfortable ‘parents and babies room’ provides a baby and toddler friendly space where parents can still be part of the service.

Pre-Schoolers

Jesus said ‘let the little children come to me’ and we want to help parents bring their children up to know and love Jesus.

Children from age 3 (grade RR) are welcomed into the Sunday morning pre-school group, where they will be taken care of by our experienced volunteers. They will be taught a Bible story, sing songs, and do activities and games.

Age 3 to Grade 9

Sunday School: Grade R – Gr 6

On Sunday mornings we welcome children into the first part of our church service, to make sure they feel included in the family of St Thomas. After 20 minutes they leave for their own programme. They are cared for and lovingly taught by teachers who have been trained. We teach children God’s word at Sunday School. We sing, pray and provide fun activities that reinforce the lessons taught.

Kids Club

Every Wednesday afternoon, all kids from GrR – Gr6 are welcome to join us for an afternoon of fun activities and bible lessons.

 Kids Club runs from

 3:30pm – 5pm.

Youth

Growing up is not always easy. We believe that God loves and cares deeply for teenagers, and his wisdom will shape them into mature adults. We love having lots of teenagers at St Thomas Church.

We invite all Grades 7-9 to join us on Sunday mornings to take part in our church service, including a special Teen Bible study during the sermon.

All teens are welcome to join us for Youth every Friday evening 4-6pm during term time. We spend time hanging out, playing games, getting to know one another better, and mostly importantly, studying the bible together. It is in knowing Jesus Christ through his word that teenagers will be equipped for all of this life and the next life.

Young Adults

Transitioning from childhood to adulthood, and from school to work is a complicated journey. At St Thomas we want to walk with our young adults through this time, helping them find their place in the world, and being ambassadors for Jesus wherever they go. The Young Adults growth group meets on Thursday Evenings at the church. You can expect a relaxed atmosphere, deep discussions around the Bible, and real care, prayer and support for one another.

Growth Groups

We are not meant to follow Jesus alone. Our growth groups are where we most deeply connect with other Christians, as we seek to make progress in the Christian life. Growth groups meet in different locations on different days of the week. But they all have the same aims Firstly we grow in our knowledge of God, as we read his word, and discuss what it means for our lives. Secondly we grow in our love for each other, as we share our burdens, and pray and support one another. Newcomers are always welcome…. to join a group simply chat to one of our pastors.

Children from age 3 (grade RR) are welcomed into the Sunday morning pre-school group, where they will be taken care of by our experienced volunteers. They will be taught a Bible story, sing songs, and do activities and games.

Seniors

Thursday mornings is time for our senior members. We gather at church at 10:30-12:30 for a time of bible study and prayer, as well as chatting, and good food. We share and strengthen our friendships. We encourage and equip one another to follow Jesus in our changing life-situations. We pray for the needs of our community, church and families. Visitors are always welcome, and are sure to find friends, food and Christian fellowship.

Membership

If Christians are all bricks being built into the temple of God (Ephesians 2:19-22), then membership is the cement which holds us together. Becoming a member of a church indicates commitment to its beliefs and its people. While anyone is welcome to attend our services, becoming a member is like marrying into the family. We would encourage anyone who has been coming to the church regularly to become a member.
